Hit Songs, Modernized

Hit Songs, Modernized
Aug. 25, 2010
Lady Gaga and Beyoncé might have a firm hold on today's radio waves, but nothing comes quite close to the classics of yesteryear. Sadly, these great songs are woefully outdated. Seems like it's about time for an update.

I recently posted a couple "modernizations" of classic songs to Facebook and Twitter, asking others to submit their own. The following are the best of the best.

  • The Clash - London Texting
  • Led Zeppelin - Escalator to Heaven
  • Stevie Wonder - I Just Skyped To Say I Love You
    (via Nico King)
  • Nirvana - Smells Like Middle-Aged Spirit
    (via Juan Falco)
  • Billy Joel - Synthesizer Man
    (via Brett Andersen)
  • Def Leppard - Pour Some Splenda On Me
    (via Ellison K. S. Bayan)
  • Tommy Tutone - facebook.com/jenny
    (via Daniel Rivera)
  • Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Airbus
    (via Simon Piquer)
  • The Buggles - Internet Killed the Video Star
    (via Alexander Arnold)
  • Barry Manilow - Can't :) Without U
    (via Andriy Borovkov)
  • The Jackson 5 - USB
    (via Cath Srimech Belsten)
  • Guns 'n' Roses - Sweet Grandchild Of Mine
    (via Nico King)
  • The Police - Text Message in a Bottle
    (via Alexandre Carteret)
  • The Beatles - Back In The Russian Federation and It's Surrounding Slavic Nations
    (via David Bass)

I hate to post anonymously, but I don't have a twitter, etc...

The "The Buggles - Internet Killed the Video Star"
Is a rip off of a song that was recently released by the Limousines, with accompanying Zombie music video. Not original...at all.

Ehem: The original song was "The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star." As you can tell, the song titles were altered to reflect the new generation, regardless of whether they exist or not. Just sayin' pay attention to the humor before making criticisms.

Actually, that "Text Message in a Bottle" was one I was thinking of as well, and instead of singing "Sending out an S.O.S" it would be "Sending out an S.M.S"

The Buggles originally made 'Video Killed the Radio Star' this is a play on that. The Limousines song has nothing to do with either.
