Mash-Up: Field of Dreamgirls

Mash-Up: Field of Dreamgirls
Aug. 4, 2010

Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) is a novice farmer living in rural Iowa. His deceased father, John (Dwier Brown) loved R&B and big, glitzy stage performances. While walking through his cornfield one day, Ray hears a voice whisper, "If you build it, Beyonce will come." He becomes convinced that he must build a giant music stage. With lots of colored spotlights.

If you build it, Beyonce will come.

The road to fulfilling this dream is long and arduous, but Ray eventually gets his venue built. It's then that he hears the voice again, prompting him to contact Curtis Taylor, Jr. (Jamie Foxx), a talent manager for James 'Thunder' Early (Eddie Murphy). Taylor not only books Early and Beyonce, but also another girl and that one chick from American Idol. No, not Fantasia. The one who lost. Ugh, no, not Clay Aiken. Jeez. That other chick. You know, Jessica or something.

They turn out to all be ghosts, though, and retreat into the fields.

All I could notice was the semi-poor photoshopping of Eddie Murphy's face onto a white man's body.

Hah! Eddie was actually untouched, part of the original poster.

But his face is so much lower than it seems it should be! It looks like Dan Akroyd's hair and head shape! Who took this picture originally? I need solid evidence.

I hate to argue with a C+H cartoonist, but damn, Matt.

Ok. I trust you. But under close scrutiny, you can't tell me it doesn't look a bit odd.

I could be in a dream right now, I suppose. I never have been in full control of my lucid dreams. There's always that rebellious bit of my mind that causes my gravity to return when I try to fly, or causes a cataclysm when I try to get with every female bit of my subconscious...

Or messes with Eddie Murphy on movie posters to cause me to question my sanity. I'm on to you.

It's the way he's standing... trying to look all cool. And managing to look like King Koopa just a tad.
