Well, first things first, you know. It's important to keep our priorities straight.

It is very unpleasant when you get AIDS from your cat.

And it kind of makes you wonder how many cats they killed in these experiments ^x.x^

You're right of course, we must all focus on one problem only, and AIDS is definitely the worst problem here on worth. If we all just get our priorities straight this AIDS-thing will be nothin' but a thang, no doubt.

How would an ANIMAL be able to get HUMAN immunodeficiency virus?

By fucking.

Same way a human gets an animal immunodeficiency virus.

actually ( becoming a Know it all for a bit here) Cats sometimes can mistakenly step on OR been injected with syringes used by people to drug themselves who unfortunately have HIV, so... that is one way.

Yeah! Why hypoallergenic cats? When are they gonna make hypoallergenic AIDS!? I've been irritated with my AIDS ever since I got 'em. AND my cat doesn't like them either!

i actually read in my bio textbook that AIDS came from monkeys.. :s

I've heard that. But who fucks a monkey and then fucks a person? That sounds like an 'either/or' lifestyle choice...

HIV isn't just spread through sex, its through other bodily fluids like blood and breast milk.

So I honestly doubt anybody slept with a monkey and acquired it...

Matt, hilarious, sorry about postin' anonymously, I just have a deep hatred for Twitter =D

We were taught that since there have been(and probably still are somewhere) people who eat the brains and other parts of monkeys, that consumption of monkeys is most likely how AIDS came to be transferred to humans. So... no eating monkey blood.

Do you not think a cat that well made would be immune to AIDS though? Or at least be covered under warranty.

sure aids is a big problem, but...

all the time I hear of people dying of cancer....

some one should at least mention cancer before a sex virus...

Can cancer be treated to the point that the cancer is practically gone?
Yes.
AIDS?
Nope.

Also, AIDS doesn't kill people: it just lets something like a cold kill people.

Either way you gonna might die, right?

Well actually; the firm (Lifestyle pets) have had the disputes of these supposed "hypoallergenic" pets countless times. Take into account that they also faked making a new breed ("Ashera" cats, which were actually beefed up Savannah's they pretended were different) and it's quite likely that it aint true...

Plus, how can you compare animal husbandry and/or gene manipulation to human disease? The two are practically worlds apart

Aids will actually be cured within 5 to 10 years now thanks to the recent invention of synthetic life. Seriously not joking.

Curing aids and genetical engineering are 2 way different things, you cant expect for a genetic scientist to cure aids! this is like asking for a plumber to do the eletrical part of your house!

EoinMadsen  [4 posts]

That's exactly what I said to the guy installing the electric shower.

"You'll never find a cure to HIV."

Actually all they have to do is create a bacteria that is non harmful to our bodies that to aids it looks more appealing than our white blood cells. Then when it injects it's genetic material into it, the genetic material is just eaten by that bacteria. BAMF! Cure.

(sorry for being a lam-o, but I hate Twitter)

I can't say I'm really surprised about the ignorance about AIDS on this comments wall, but here are a couple of facts:

While AIDS is very much under control in Westernised, developed countries, in Africa and India it is a huge problem. Most AIDS victims are women and children. Many children are orphaned by AIDS in these countries. They are so poorly educated, and often fed religious dogma telling them not to use condoms.

Yes, there is a theory that AIDS came from monkeys, not being a biologist I'm not entirely sure how that happened... but I imagine there was some kind of mutation of the virus. Yes cats can get a form of Feline AIDS.

Matt, I thought this was a really good posting, it's really quite funny.

The debate about cancer vs. AIDS is also quite interesting. There is a South Park episode in Season 12 that deals with it... people should look it up.
