The perfection of time travel brings with it new opportunities for criminals. The government has set up a special police force, the Time Enforcement Commission, to ensure the new technology isn't abused. Mild-mannered family man Paul Blart (Kevin James) has worked as a security guard in a New Jersey mall for years, but always dreamt of becoming one of these elite timecops. Due to the strict regulations required for frequent time travel, though, he has always failed the physical exam.
In a strange twist of fate, Blart becomes aware of a corrupt politician's (Ron Silver) plot to become president by robbing shopping malls in the past. Blart's love interest, Amy (Jayma Mays), gets taken hostage by one of the Senator's henchmen as they go back through time. Blart rushes after them, going through time himself.
While being pursued by Blart, The Senator discovers he is on his trail when Blart accidentally crashes into something on his Segway.
The final confrontation between Blart and Senator McComb takes place at the very mall where Blart works in the future. Blart enlists the help of his past self and the two take out McComb's henchmen... but the Senator still has Amy. Older Blart sets the Senator up by baiting McComb's younger self to come to the mall, who begins questioning the actions of his older self. Older Blart sends his Segway crashing into younger McComb, causing him to knock into older McComb. As the movie states, "The same matter cannot occupy the same space." The two McCombs are fused together and implode.
Victorious in his efforts, Blart is offered a job as a timecop by the TEC director. He declines the offer, choosing to stay at the mall with Amy and his friends. The two Blarts celebrate with a high five, causing the two to implode as well.
